Brandon is from South Florida and completed his B.S in Freshwater and Marine Sciences at Purdue University. During this time, he worked on fisheries ecology, focusing on the maternal transfer of toxicants in fish. As a Ph.D. student, he is co-advised by Dr. Mahadev Bhat and Dr. Mark Butler. Brandon's research focuses on coupled social-ecological systems, specifically coral reef restoration. He aims to investigate the role of marine grazers, such as crabs and urchins, in coral reef restoration efforts within the Florida Keys, focusing on assessing their ecological and economic value to reefs and society. Brandon also has a science education social media page that communicates his research to the public! (Instagram: @eco.sosa)
